About Tauernwetter

Tauernwetter.at is an independent weather service for Carinthia and East Tyrol, providing precise weather forecasts and analyses for the Alpine region since September 21, 2025.

As a non-commercial project, we provide daily updated weather information. We are proud to serve 33 partner municipalities as well as the Molltal Tourism Association.

Our Approach

As a meteorological project, we combine scientific accuracy with practical applicability. We analyze data from various weather models daily and prepare them specifically for the complex weather conditions of the Alpine region. We place special emphasis on phenomena such as foehn, cold air pools, inversion weather situations, and alpine precipitation patterns.

By integrating real-time measurement data from over 150 weather stations in Carinthia and East Tyrol, we can precisely capture current weather developments and incorporate them into our forecasts. Data is updated every 10-15 minutes, enabling an accurate nowcasting function.
